Proteins are the essential building blocks of living organisms. Their 3D structure has been the subject of intensive research for several decades. In my talk, I will describe what we can learn from these 3D structures. First, I will focus on the benefits of their visualization. Then I will emphasize the need for their validation. I will afterwards discuss important parts of the 3D structure of proteins (tunnels, pores, etc.) and properties calculated from the protein 3D structure. Finally, I will mention that we also learned how to predict the protein 3D structure and what new challenges and opportunities this brings.
