Translation Control

  • 16 November 2023

Structural Biology Seminar: Petr Těšina, CEITEC MU

We will introduce concepts of translation control and the ribosome as a key hub of molecular interactions and signalling networks in the cell. Co-translational mRNA decay and surveillance pathways in eukaryotes critically contribute to gene expression control and moderate the effects of mRNA damage and natural genetic or processing errors in the cell. Quality control pathways have evolved in all domains of life to prevent damage caused by truncated nascent proteins. Structural biology offers unique insight into molecular mechanisms of these fascinating processes.
