Admission procedure
for the doctoral study programmes Biomolecular Chemistry and Bioinformatics, Genomics and Proteomics, and Life Sciences
Doctoral studies at the NCBR are governed by general rules applicable to the entire MU and the Faculty of Science, but some conditions are specific to the Doctoral Study Programme (DSP) in Life Sciences.
Standard admissions process:
- Contact the selected supervisor based on the announced dissertation topic or research area well in advance of the PhD application deadline.
- Prior to the actual admission process, a pre-selection and discussion of the supervisor with the applicants (research experience, discussion of the PhD topic) takes place.
- The selection procedure takes place before a committee appointed by the DSP's disciplinary board. The candidate must demonstrate his/her scientific knowledge and motivation for doctoral studies, his/her knowledge of the English language and present the topic he/she wishes to pursue during his/her studies.
The Faculty of Science allows continuous admission of students, which enables them to start their doctoral studies at any time during the academic year. However, the main admission procedure usually takes place in the month of June, and two admission procedures per year are open for the DSP Life Sciences (the main one starting in the autumn semester and a supplementary one in the spring semester).
A supervisor's statement on the supervision of the PhD student signed by the supervisor is a mandatory part of the application.
Specific rules and obligations for students from third countries: the admission procedure is considerably complicated by administrative matters (visas, etc.), it is necessary to consult with the Dean's Office especially for the admission of students from countries that are under long-term or temporary sanctions (currently Russia, Belarus, Iran, North Korea).
