Our colleague Martina Pokorná left us after a long and difficult illness. Our graduate, who worked at CEITEC MU since 2012 in the role of Deputy Director for Administration and then briefly as Deputy Director for Human Resources. Martina has contributed to the close cooperation between the Faculty of Science and CEITEC MU.

Night of Scientists 2024 attracted visitors on the theme of Transformations

The transformations taking place in science and mathematics attracted more than 4,500 visitors. More than 200 enthusiastic naturalists, scientists, teachers and students set up a total of 62 stations at both MUNI SCI campuses on 27 September 2024.

New Bachelor's degree programme Bioinformatics

Masaryk University has accredited a new study programme Bioinformatics in cooperation between the Faculty of Informatics and the Faculty of Science.

Intensive Summer School: Multiscale Modelling Methods

The National Centre for Biomolecular Research, in collaboration with CEITEC and the Centre for International Cooperation, organized the second year of the intensive two-week summer school, focusing on edge computer simulation techniques at various scales from atomic to coarse-grained simulations covering topics from supramolecular chemistry towards structural biology. The course was attended by 15 students, twelve from abroad and three selected from Masaryk University.

The DAREG project is completed

Our colleagues Tomáš Raček, Tomáš Svoboda and Adrián Rošinec recently completed a project named „Portálové řešení pro správu a zpracování life-science datových sad a jejich metadat ukládaných v systému Onedata“.

Rector Bareš handed over habilitation certificates to new associate professors

New Associate Professors from Masaryk University and other research institutions and universities received their appointment decrees. Among them were also scientists working at the Faculty of Science, namely Petra Procházková Schrumpfová, who conducts her research in the Laboratory of Functional Genomics and Proteomics led by Prof. Jiří Fajkus, and is strongly involved in teaching and supervising of students at NCBR. Congratulations!

Dean’s Awards 2024

Dean Tomáš Kašparovský has presented awards to the best students of the MU Faculty of Science on Thursday, June 13, 2024. This year’s Dean’s Awards were presented to a total of ten laureates in the Best Student category in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme, and to eleven promising scientists in the Best Student category of the Doctoral study programme. Moreover, the award was also presented to three teams of fourteen outstanding students of the pregraduate and postgraduate programmes. Congratulations mainly to our successful students Bc. Július Zemaník (BMCH Biomolecular chemistry) and Mgr. Alžbeta Kusová (DSP Genomics and proteomis).
